Valonen Emilia

I gratuated as an optometrist in 2013 from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. After compliting my studies, I worked in several optical stores, gaining broad and versatile experience in different areas of optometric practice. My professional roles have ranged from stylist and optometrist to assistant store manager and store manager.

Throughhout my career, I have worked both in traditional optical retail settings, focusing on eye examinations and eyewear, and in more modern clinical environments, performing pre-examinations for patients. Already during my studies, I developed a strong interest in hospital-based eye care, which led me to write my thesis on laser eye surgery.

Since 2018, I have been working as a hospital-optometrist at Eira Eye Clinic. Eira Hospital provides an inspiring and professionally rewarding work environment. Our laser surgery team is dedicated to ensuring that every patient feels heard, well cared for, and leaves the procedure with confidence and satisfaction.

Alongside my clinical work, I have continued my professional development and graduated in 2024 with Master´s degree in Clinical Optometry. This advanced education has deepened my expertise in ocular health, diagnostic methods, and more complex vision correction solutions, further supporting my role in pre-surgical assessment and comprehensive patient care. I currently serve as the lead optometrist of our eye unit and have gained extensive experience in a team leader role.
