Examination of memory disorders
It is important to examine symptoms that may indicate a memory disorder early, in order to begin treatment as quickly as possible.
The examination includes:
- interview and examination by the geriatrics specialist
- memory test (MMSE or CERAD)
- laboratory examinations
- brain examination (primarily MRI scan).
Diagnosis and care estimation for memory disorders requires specialist knowledge and experience. Eira Hospital and Medical Centre offers complete geriatric services and extensive experience of treating persons with memory disorders. The memory test can also be taken at the nurse’s consultation office.
At our in-patient unit on Tehtaankatu 28, Helsinki, we offer a safe environment for persons with memory disorders who come in for examination and need care, help with medication or rehabilitation.
