Salo Juho

I am a specialist in plastic surgery and hold a Doctor of Medical Science degree. I work in both the public and private sectors. I qualified as a specialist in plastic surgery in 2014 at Helsinki University Hospital. Since then, I have worked extensively in plastic surgery at Helsinki University Hospital, with a particular focus on demanding reconstructive procedures. In 2014–2015, I completed a Master’s program in microsurgery.

I serve as a Chief Physician at HUS and as the lead surgeon at Puistosairaala. At HUS, I perform complex reconstructive plastic surgery and microsurgery, and I treat patients with soft tissue sarcomas. My areas of special expertise include severe lower limb tissue defects, breast reconstruction using autologous tissue, reconstruction of abdominal wall and chest wall defects, and soft tissue sarcoma surgery. My responsibilities at HUS include leading the surgical treatment of soft tissue sarcomas. Previously, I have also performed gender reassignment surgeries at HUS.

Over the course of my long career at HUS and in private practice since 2016, I have operated on a large number of general plastic surgery patients. My particular areas of expertise include breast reduction surgery, correction of rectus diastasis, abdominoplasty, body liposuction, scar revision, and skin cancer surgery. In private practice, I have also performed a significant number of upper eyelid surgeries, neck liposuction procedures, and arm and thigh lifts following weight loss.

I completed my doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki, with a dissertation on chest wall reconstruction. I actively contribute to medical publications and have authored chapters in several textbooks. I have delivered numerous scientific presentations at professional meetings, congresses, and seminars. I am also regularly involved in educational activities in the field, both as faculty and as an organizer of training programs. My goal is to promote my patients’ health and well-being and to improve their quality of life through reconstructive and aesthetic procedures. I have years of experience and have performed thousands of surgeries. All procedures I perform are based on safe, evidence-based surgical methods. I always provide an objective assessment and realistic expectations of what can be achieved.
