Merkkola-von Schantz Päivi

I work as a specialist in plastic surgery at the Plastic Surgery Unit of Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) and at a private practice at Eira Hospital. By combining work in both the private and public healthcare sectors, I maintain diverse expertise and extensive surgical experience.

My areas of special expertise include breast plastic surgery, such as reductions, lifts, augmentations, fat transfers and the treatment of breast developmental disorders, as well as body-contouring surgery, particularly after weight loss and pregnancy. I offer broad expertise in reconstructive plastic surgery and microsurgery, particularly in the management of tissue defects following breast cancer surgery.

I keep my skills up to date by participating in national and international congresses and scientific research. I also teach medical students. I completed my PhD at the University of Helsinki on the subject of breast reduction surgery.
